Quite a few students (around 50-60 or so) came by all afternoon to help build the Sukkah and the Simchat Torah tent, and cover the Sukkah with Schach. And of course, to enjoy some BBQ which was grilling throughout.. Pictured above are some of the team that spent some time working on the Sukkah, (L-R) Jason Kersch (note his tool belt) Farrah Fidler, Mushkie Rubin, (alumnus) Oren Silvers holding Sarah, Teri Goldstein, Craig Brimmer, Saul Maslansky, Harriet Roffe with Moshe, Rabbi Mendel, Coreen and Tina Collitin.

Thanks to the first team of the afternoon: Eric Himy, Jeremy Soussan, Jason Kersch, Ben Lieb, and Shmuly and Efraim Rubin - the Sukkah was up this year in record time. Building the Sukkah is a big Mitzvah, and a special excitement for many students who especially enjoy doing it. It's a Mitzvah you really get your hands on - and for the following week we enjoy the Sukkah we built...

Rachel Harris adds greens to increase the shade on the Sukkah.

Jason Zeller, sitting ATOP a corner of the Sukkah, adds Schach greens to spots needing extra cover.

This is Sam Gillman's favored Sukkah position, way up on top amidst the branches. These two pictures fused together try to tell the story - on bottom Sam's legs are visible with Jared Treiber (on left) and Nathan Tobin passing Schach branches up.

Little Moshe Rubin assists Jason Kersch in building a new set of benches to better accommodate the growing number of students attending on Friday Nights. Moshe was so proud...
Good thing they did! We would not have had room in the Sukkah otherwise. This year was a record turnout..
For a good number of years, Rabbi Mendel's handy brother Shmuly Rubin (on ladder) leads the Sukkah construction. The secret to this very big Sukkah is a central beam that has to be put in place just right, to support all the overhead Schach evergreen branches. Another brother, Efraim Rubin was a big help this year as well.

Untangling the lights for the Simchat Torah tent looks simpler than it really is. It took quite a team to set those lights straight.
