Helping with Shabbos Preparations
Preparing for Shabbos is a huge job, especially now that the crowd has grown so much. It is only thanks to the Interns and the many student volunteers who come over starting on Thursday and all through Friday that Raizy is able to pull it off. Some come over to bake, other to make salads on Friday, or to set up the tables to maximize space, and even more for serving during the meal, and clean-up afterwards. Thanks to everyone who pitches in - not only is it helpful, but it is more enjoyable to do it with friends.
Daniel Small & Dan Caplan (both '06) measure cups of flour and sugar for black and white cookies. Wendy Miller ('06) has brought quite a few new recipes to the Shabbos House variety. Here's she's cutting tomatoes for a eggplant olive salad.
Harriet Roffe ('04) is always around, lending a hand, helping out. Here she enjoys a light moment with Sara. The kids' Parsha (weekly Torah studies) posters are on the wall of their room. The kids love when Justin Hirsch ('06) reads them books, and that's a huge help to keep them busy and entertained on a hectic Thursday evening before a busy "full" Shabbat at Shabbos House.
