Jamming Night |
|
|
As of now, only one Jamming Night was planned for the Spring
semester, and though it took a while to warm up into it, it turned out to be
one of our best ever. Quite a few musicians participated bringing lots of
musical variety. Welcome back to alumnus Gabe Duci who brought the Jamming Night to a whole new level when he got up here from New Paltz, and a welcome to transfer students Aaron Goldberg (from Cleveland State) who played drums and Mike Katzberg (from Rockland) who played guitar. Yishai Cohen, Jason Kersch and Ben Lieb spent some time this week practicing a number of (Jewish and contemporary) songs together. Also thanks to Dan Mandelkorn who had folks singing along when he played, and AJ Nordlicht who gave it his all when drumming away. Daniel Small couldn't play his violin due to technical difficulty with his strings, but we look forward to hearing him another time. Read the captions for anything or anyone we've missed. |

| Dan Mandelkorn on electric guitar (L) with AJ Nordlicht on Drums. It took some time for everyone to get in tune, and to pick songs and musical style. The variety of styles made for a fun evening. | Yishai (on acoustic guitar), Jason (on piano/keyboard) and Ben on Drums. They practiced a few songs during the week - playing a variety of Jewish and contemporary music. |

| Alumnus Gabe Duci came back to visit and gave it his all in the latter part of the Jamming Night. Until 1am, strumming away, full of feeling and flavor. After a while it switched over from playing songs to lively jammin' and sharing inspirational stories and "farbrengening". | Andrew Genger came by after (a hard evening of ) work in FYE, and got intense with the Bongos. Together with Gabe and Ben - the beat and the singing kept getting stronger. A night to remember. |

| Sam Gilman (who quietly helped out to ready Shabbos House for a Jamming Night after Shabbos) and Shoshana Kurlantzik who somehow managed to strum quiet a few songs on the guitar despite all the music around her. | Rabbi Mendel and Raizy Rubin with little Sara at the Aron Kodesh. She loved the music (though sometimes frightened by the drums) and even clapped along for some of the heavy music. |
