Honey Harriet Roffe worked
long and hard to pull off this special weekend - bringing
"Dr Laz" to SUNY Albany. Thanks to her
we (and the folks up at Skidmore) had an amazing weekend, rappin' away.. See

On Friday Night (and what a
packed Friday Night it was, with Dr Laz talking near the doorway to allow the
students out in the carport to hear as well) Dr Laz spoke about "Getting
Along": his experiences working with special ed kids in the inner-city, his
inter-racial work in Crown Heights after the 1991 riots, and about his
struggles and growth in Jewish dedication. He hung around after the meal,
spoke some more, & after the crowd dwindled - taught us some of his original
"raps"..
Then on Saturday Night,

we had an lively great
night of music with Dr Laz, and his team: Yudi Simon, Zahava Krevsky and
Yossi (and Rafael) Lazerson - the special sound system we rented had Shabbos
House thumping with Dr Laz's special blend of rap,
reggae, blues, country, rock n' roll and doo-wop... and
of course, some Jewish songs and Chassidic rock.. We were also treated to a
. A Hassidic Jew, a special education teacher (author of "Skullcaps
and Switchblades"), outdoorsman, and founder of Project Cure! a unique
grassroots org that strives to improve understanding and cooperation in our
multi-ethnic society. An alternative, fun kind of guy. See his site
