Moshe's Upshernish
traditional 3 year-old first haircut, sweet taste of torah, aleph-bais party

Invite Postcard: View Front / View Back

To give little Moshe a sweet intro to the holy letters of the Torah, Raizy went all out in preparing all the fancy cakes pictured above (and more!) with aleph-bais themes. Up front in the Alef-Bais train, with smiley cookie wheels. Behind is a Tzitzit cake on the Right, and a Kippah cake on the Left, with a Tree Cake in the middle.

Several alumni guests came up (a real surprise for us..) to join in our little Simcha, despite it being a weekday.. Pictured above L-R: Jason Nadell, Rabbi Mendel, Raizy and Moshe, Tali Seinfeld, Rachel Commer (holding one of the Marzouk Twins - hard to tell..) Atara Marzouk (standing) Dan Marzouk (sitting, with the other Marzouk Twin) and Joel Feuer to the far right.

We were also very pleased welcome both of Moshe's grandparents, Bubbe and Zeide Galperin who came up from Brooklyn and Rabbi Israel and Rochel Rubin who live in Albany - and is regional director of Capital Chabad which is the parent organization of Shabbos House.

The kids were involved in all the preparations, from shaping the aleph-bais cookies to painting a Hebrew "Moshe" banner. Here Moshe works studiously with RED paint, his favorite color.

We're love little Moshe!

People noticed that Moshe looked a little out of it, or kind of subdued and wondered what we gave him to drink... Well, he was on some cough medicine after a bout with a big cold plaguing our kids that week. But he was real happy nonetheless and everyone being so nice to him meant a lot to him... Behind him is the hebrew Moshe Poster - painted by the kids - and the assortments of themed cakes.

As this celebration is considered a formal entry into Moshe's education (which really begins at birth..) it is appropriate to give a "down-payment" towards his Jewish education. Here Moshe is sticking a dollar into a pushka (charity box) with his name on it.
