Walking the Bible
Visiting History with Zohar Kastner ('07)
at Shabbos House Learning Night
Zohar Kastner shared a powerpont presentation and fascinating narrative of his family trips to far-away countries and exotic lands, highlighting places of great historic or natural beauty significance. This journey took us to Turkey and Egypt, at the base of Everest in Bhutan and many other exotic places.
This striking and inspiring photo is of his father, wrapped in Tallis and Tefillin, praying in the beautiful setting which is the path toward the base-camp of Mount Everest.
While we ate Baked Ziti and enjoyed Potato-Leak soup, Zohar described surviving for a week in a desert trip on matzah-like bread baked on rocks, and pointed out the primitive lifestyle and homes of some of the natives in the far-off rural regions he visited.
