Pre-Rosh Hashanah Events

SHOFAR FACTORY: Don't miss the exciting, hands-on Shofar Factory at Campus Center Small Fountain, where you can make your own Shofar out of a ram's horn. Monday, 9/22 from 11am-2pm.

CHALLAH WITH LOVE: 9/26 8pm at Shabbos House Bake your own Challah to take home for the holidays and/or to share with seniors in the local Albany Jewish community.

ROSH HASHANAH - The Jewish New Year

Rosh Hashanah 2011 begins Wednesday Night 9/28 and runs through Friday evening 9/30, when Shabbat begins. We wish one and all: A Happy, Healthy and Sweet New Year, filled with much blessing.

Most students will be headed home for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, but for those who will remain up here, Shabbos House will be hosting traditional, campus-friendly services and holiday meals for both days of the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

Faculty and nearby community are also welcome, there's no charge or tickets, but RSVP's are appreciated for the meals (so we can best prepare) and donations are welcome to help defray the cost.

Wednesday 9/28: 7pm Prayers, 8pm Holiday Dinner
Thurs 9/29: 9:30am Prayers, 1:30pm Lunch followed by Tashlich ceremony
Thurs 9/29: 7pm Prayers, 8pm Holiday Dinner
Friday 9/30: 9:30am Prayers and Shofar, 1:30pm Lunch
Friday 9/30: 7pm Prayers and 8pm Shabbat Dinner
Sat 10/1: 10am Prayers, 12:30pm Shabbat Lunch

All the above Rosh Hashanah Services and Meals will be at Shabbos House: 320 Fuller Road, near Great Dane Drive.

YOM KIPPUR - Day of Atonement

Shabbos House and UAlbany Hillel team up to co-sponsor and lead the Yom-Kippur services, part of which is done as a joint community, and some segments which are divided up according to denomination. All of the prayer services will be held in the Campus Center.

This year, being on Friday, the Pre-Fast Dinner will be sponsored by Hillel and held in the Campus Center 2nd Floor Assembly Hall.

Friday 10/7: Pre-Fast by Hillel in CC Assembly Hall 4:30pm-6pm
Friday 10/7: Kol-Nidrei (joint, traditional) in CC 375 at 6:15pm
Sat 10/8: Morning Service 9:30am - 2 services: egalitarian and traditional (both in Campus Center)
Sat 10/8: Mincha and Neilah (joint, traditional) 5pm in CC 375
Sat 10/8: Break-Fast by Hillel 7:08pm in CC 375
