PURIM UALBANY 5764 / 2004 Purim Night: Megillah Reading & Games with Shabbos House In addition to the traditional Megillah Reading each year (that Purim falls during the SUNY academic calendar) we added a few new exciting items to the mix this year. During the Megillah Reading, an accompanying illustrated slideshow had captioned pictures of the Purim Story following the storyline as it was read. While the illustrations came from our children's books, it was quite entertaining and helpful to follow along. Following Megillah and the much anticipated Costume Contest, we played our first game ever of "Who Wants to be a Mitzvanaire" on a full screen projection. Ben Lieb was our Regis, and we had a total of six contestants and all had a good time, not to mention a great learning experience. We also played the "Bowl Race" which used to be play on Sukkot, but is much more appropriate for Purim, anyways. The Campus Center Assembly Hall was filled for Megillah Reading, and quite a few stayed on (not all, of course, it was a Sat Night) for the games following. |
