Chanukah 5765/2004 at UAlbany

Chanukah falls this year just before and during Finals Week.
The 1st Night is 12/7 and the 8th night is 12/14.

Chanukah '04 Events at UAlbany!

• 12/1 - Dreidel Packing and Challah Baking
  7:30 at Shabbos House. Challahs to be distributed in "Challah with Love", 2,000+ Dreidel Packets to be placed in all Quad Dining Halls (with chocolate Gelt coin, Dreidel, sticker and card). The will be available in the Cafeterias starting Sunday evening prior to Chanukah.

• 12/4 -Israeli Band at Pre-Chanukah Jamming Night
  7:30pm pre-Chanukah Jamming at Shabbos House. Musicians and non-Musicians are all welcome! Pizza, Nosh and music, good atmosphere! Israeli Group to perform starting around 9pm.

• 12/6 - Chanukah Party in Indian Quad Penthouse
  arranged by Hillel's Student Life Liaisons, these parties are right in the dorms! 7pm, come and enjoy!

• 12/7 - 1st Night of Chanukah "Lights and Latkes"
  5:30pm (and again at 7pm, if necessary) Learning Night commentary on "Lights" cartoon, with dairy dinner, latkes and Menorah Lighting at Shabbos House

• 12/7 - Chanukah Party in State Quad Penthouse
  arranged by Hillel's Student Life Liasons, these parties are right in the dorms! 7pm, come and enjoy!

• 12/8 - Hot Latke Table near Small Fountain
  11am-2pm near the Small Fountain. Free Hot Latkes are much appreciated in the cold Albany weather! Menorahs and Candles (and some Choco-Gelt) will also be available there.

• 12/8 - "Matisyahu" Reggae Phenomenon  at Menorah Lighting
  5:30pm downstairs in the Campus Center near Dreidels and The Coop (Babb's) followed by Free Concert of "Matisyahu". An EXTREME CHANUKAH event! He was featured on Steve Harvey, Jimmy Kimmel and others. Hear his music at www.hasidicreggae.com Even if you can't stay long, stop by for a bit, don't miss this event!  This event is sponsored by L'CHAIM, TAGAR, and HILLEL/JSC (sa groups), Shabbos House, Ufaratzta Fund for Chabad on Campus and UAlbany Hillel. Following Matisyahu Hillel will be hosting a Dreidel-spinning event for all to enjoy! Note: Matisyahu will be playing later the same evening at Savannah's on South Pearl Street (21+/$10) doors open starting at 9pm.

• 12/9 - Midnight Breakfast - after Reading Night
  10-12pm. New event at Shabbos House. Dairy breakfast foods, munchies and a little break from studying, or a refuel stop to keep you going all night after Reading Day.

• 12/10 - Friday Night at Shabbos House
  as usual, 6pm Conservative and Reform prayers at Chapel House, Orthodox at Shabbos House, followed by Finals Week Chanukah Shabbat Dinner at Shabbos House 7pm. All are welcome! This is the last weekend of Fall '04 at Albany..

  * The Minyan Bagel Brunch scheduled for Sunday, 12/12 will be rescheduled for the Spring '05 semester.
  * Planning on being up in Albany for Winter Break? Check Schedule to see if we will be at Shabbos House for the weekend. If yes, come on over for Friday Night!
