UAlbany / Shabbos House Alumni Reunion

Sunday, July 26th 1-3pm at the Chabad Loft
182 Fifth Ave (bet 22nd & 23rd) 10010 - across the historic Flatiron building

It was a beautiful turnout and great vibe at this year's Shabbos House NYC Alumni Reunion 2009. (See the page for lots of photos, or people's Facebook posts). Once again, we did it at the Chabad Loft at 182 Fifth Ave (thanks again to Rabbi Yakov Bankhalter and his staff) a bright, spacious and convenient location across the historic Flatiron building (and Toyota's daisy WiFi's) in lower Manhattan. Thanks to everyone who came out, we saw friends from as early as the Class of 1998 and as recent as 2009, with some friends from 2002 and 2004 that we haven't seen in the longest time. Most of the food was polished off (we brought it down in coolers from Albany) and the room was nice and chill.  There also was a survey handed out about long-distance alumni learning opportunities. Thanks to all who came out, it was great to see everyone!
Ayal shares his card - and memory. Up on the wall behind him is faintly visible the last image of the "Behind the Scenes at the new Shabbos House" powerpoint presentation made for this reunion event.
Raizy led a card game titled "Past/Future" in which we went around the room and everyone shared a memory (and an imaginative insight or wish for the future) based on the noun they were given. People are also opening the souvenir envelope packets which included (1) Mushky's Bas-Mitzvah "Nano-Messages" Powerpoint (2) Torah-Tuesdays of 2008-9 in PDF format on CD (3) "Digging for the Lost Ark" Bookmark Dvar-Torah (4) invite to Dan ('04) and Jenni Levy's Teaneck home for a Shabbos House fundraising BBQ on August 16th (5) the alumni long-distance Torah learning survey (6) a Chai-Club monthly credit-card donation form.

Raizy and Rimma (2002) This Tzfat Cafe painting was one of the very interesting and blue-colored artwork on the walls at the Chabad Loft in downtown Manhattan.
After the program, hanging out on the couch. This one doesn't sink in...
Rabbi Mendel presented a Dvar-Torah relating to the Nine-Days called "Digging for the Lost Ark" (shared in bookmark form) and a powerpoint about little known aspects of the new building titled, "Behind the Scenes of the new Shabbos House".
The next generation! Alumni kids added a lot of fun to the atmosphere.
Levy is the son of Rabbi Sholom Ber and Nechama Dina. Getting around on his own now. Sara was a huge help. Here she and Rochie are designing name-tags for people.
Danyel's having a good time with Rochie, eldest daughter of Shoshana and Ephraim. Each kid (and very young alumni) got a goodie-bag with all kinds of treats and trinkets to have a good time with.
The Table-less Crowd during the presentations. Shabbos House has always been blessed with a wonderful and interesting mix of people, all who bring different things "to the table" and greatly enrich our atmosphere and experience.
The set-up at Chabad Loft before alumni began to arrive. The historic Flatiron Building is across 5th Avenue through the windows.
