FYI - the National
Chabad on Campus Shabbaton hosts a festive concert on the Saturday
Night in Brooklyn. This year's bands are "8th Day" and "Third House
Rising" and it costs $18 for a Jewish night out with hundreds of college
students from across the country, plus NYC area alumni. To register or
for more info visit the website:
concert.Jewishweekend.org. Though we originally planned to come
in, unfortunately we won't be able to, but we thought of posting this
info for those who might be interested. |

| R' Pinchas Schreiber's (director of Shabbos House 1992-1996) mother Sora Ita bas Zev, a"h, passed away this morning (Shabbos) around 4am. The funeral will start out at Gutterman's in Rockville Center, NY on Monday at noon and then proceed to the cemetery in Farmingdale (New Montefiore). His brothers and sisters will be sitting shiva at his parent's home in Baldwin (1052 Northern Blvd). R' Pinchas will be returning to West Hartford to sit Shiva. Our condolences to R' Pinchas and the Schreiber family. May they only know many Simchas and joyous occasions. | |||

She weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. and is 19.5 inches long. We named her in shul this morning calling her Leiba Yael (not sure about the spelling yet). Sunday we traveled down to NY to celebrate
Simchas with Alumni... Mushkie, Chani, Moshe and Sara stayed in Albany
with Mendel's parents and we took Bassie along with us to NY.
Efraim (Fred) and Shoshana (Stacey Wolinetz) of the Class of 2001 had a newborn baby boy and we were lucky that the Lotwin Bris was on the same day as Jason Nadel's ('99) wedding to Roni Grill in Cedarhurst. In one day, thanks to these two joyous occasions we saw more than 30 alumni friends! |

When in NY at the Rebbe's
Ohel (gravesite) we met Melissa Gardonyi ('00) for the first time
in a long time, who introduced us to someone who studied Chassidus with
Rivky Galperin's fiancé! (small world indeed!) and then Melissa told us
that Tamar Kushman ('00) who had been studying at Machon Alte in
Tzfat Israel is engaged to Josh Miller - originally from Houston, now
living in Beit Shemesh Israel. They're getting married Sunday, August
27th in Houston.
Laurie Dickstein ('03) is getting married to Greg this August 10th in NY. They will be both continuing their studies and finishing their degrees at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, he in Mechanical Engineering and she in School Psychology.
Jessica Mazza ('04) is getting married to Josh Silver (also Albany
grad) in September. We offer our condolences to Jessica on the loss of
her mother after a long and difficult illness. |

analyst for the county, after several years of living up in Albany after

On Sat
Night 2/12 we enjoyed time with Dan & Atara Marzouk who have now
purchased a home in Linden NJ outside Elizabeth. Dan moved up at
Universal Underwriters, a car dealership insurance company.
Shabbos 2/11-12 welcomed back 4 visiting alumni: David Shahverdi (Jewelry business) and David Gretah (sub-teaching and Brooklyn College Grad School), Ben Kallos (Law School at Buffalo) and Stacey Brecher (NCJW - National Council of Jewish Women). Arie Lipnick was all over the papers in his capacity as spokesperson for NYC Councilman Simcha Felder. Mazal Tov to Gregg and Shara Gilbert, and their son Yosef Aryeh, on the birth of a daughter (sister) Miriam Chana. Our condolences to Marc Gronich ('83) on the loss of his father, Leon Gronich on 1/14/05. Marc lives in Albany, has been active politically, and now is involved with Jewish community fundraising. Nadine Kochavi ('00) works for the Joint Distribution Committee (as does Jason Nadell ('99)) aka the "JDC" who are active in relief and aid the world over and have been particularly active in the Tsunami Relief Effort. Seth Mellin ('01) now runs www.smcreativemarketing.com for specialty items. Sarah (Szymkowicz) Hein ('04) made aliyah to Israel with her husband Avi, just one month after their marriage in June '04. They now live in Jerusalem. Yishai and Rachael Cohen ('04) are moving to Israel before January, and starting off on Kibbutz Saad in Southern Israel.
